Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the departmental Scheme of Work and examination specifications.
  • Promote the welfare of students and ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the Head of Department in updating curriculum planning and department policies.
  • Create and maintain a variety of teaching resources that enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Provide effective homework and exam-based assignments, and offer support for coursework and deadlines.
  • Assist in student interviews and provide guidance on course suitability and academic progression.
  • Reinforce the aims and values of the school through teaching and involvement in extra-curricular activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in fine arts or a relevant subject.
  • Experience teaching young people aged 14+ in an educational context.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver stimulating and effective lessons.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and online systems/databases.
  • Knowledge of curriculum initiatives and developments at Key Stage 4 and post-16 levels.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing a range of teaching strategies.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and student welfare practices.
  • Commitment to supporting students with barriers to learning.
  • A positive and inspiring attitude to maintaining student discipline.
