The Opportunity:

As the EAL Specialist and Literacy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering a comprehensive literacy program for students whose first language is Arabic. This is a unique opportunity to shape English language instruction across the school and support teachers in enhancing EAL practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a school-wide literacy development program for Arabic-speaking students.
  • Teach English to students in both primary and secondary levels at the main campus.
  • Support and train other teachers in the effective delivery of English as a Second Language across the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate literacy strategies into all subject areas.
  • Monitor and assess student progress to ensure continuous improvement in English language skills.
  • Stay updated with best practices in EAL and literacy instruction.
  • Contribute to the school’s ongoing accreditation and improvement processes.
  • Engage with the wider school community to promote inclusive and effective teaching practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience teaching Key Stage 3, 4, or 5 English in an international school setting.
  • Strong background in English as a Second Language (EAL) instruction and curriculum development.
  • Ability to design and deliver literacy programs tailored to diverse student needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in TEFL or similar teaching environments.
  • Familiarity with British-curriculum standards.
  • Experience working in a multicultural and international setting.
  • Knowledge of Islamic values and cultural sensitivity.
