The Opportunity:
As the EAL Specialist and Literacy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering a comprehensive literacy program for students whose first language is Arabic. This is a unique opportunity to shape English language instruction across the school and support teachers in enhancing EAL practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a school-wide literacy development program for Arabic-speaking students.
- Teach English to students in both primary and secondary levels at the main campus.
- Support and train other teachers in the effective delivery of English as a Second Language across the curriculum.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate literacy strategies into all subject areas.
- Monitor and assess student progress to ensure continuous improvement in English language skills.
- Stay updated with best practices in EAL and literacy instruction.
- Contribute to the school’s ongoing accreditation and improvement processes.
- Engage with the wider school community to promote inclusive and effective teaching practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching Key Stage 3, 4, or 5 English in an international school setting.
- Strong background in English as a Second Language (EAL) instruction and curriculum development.
- Ability to design and deliver literacy programs tailored to diverse student needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
Preferred
- Experience in TEFL or similar teaching environments.
- Familiarity with British-curriculum standards.
- Experience working in a multicultural and international setting.
- Knowledge of Islamic values and cultural sensitivity.
