The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Director of Sixth Form, you will provide strategic and operational support to the Assistant Headteacher – Director of Sixth Form. This role is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious teacher looking to develop their leadership skills and progress into senior leadership within two years. You will play a key role in shaping post-16 provision and ensuring a high-quality academic experience for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of Sixth Form in delivering a high-quality A Level curriculum across 18 subjects.
  • Develop and implement academic intervention and transition strategies for post-16 students.
  • Manage and oversee the performance of students and staff within the Sixth Form.
  • Collaborate with neighbouring schools to deliver joint teaching in subjects such as Art, Music, French, and German.
  • Promote a strong sense of community and inclusivity within the Sixth Form.
  • Support the delivery of extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities for students.
  • Ensure a smooth transition for Year 11 students into the Sixth Form and for external applicants joining the school.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to align Sixth Form strategies with the school’s overall vision and mission.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience teaching to KS5.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to support and develop students academically and personally.
  • Experience in a senior teaching role or a strong desire to progress into senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Sixth Form or post-16 leadership role.
  • Familiarity with A Level curriculum and assessment strategies.
  • Experience in academic intervention or student transition support.
  • Knowledge of extracurricular programme development and management.
  • Experience in working with diverse student groups and supporting their personal development.
