The Opportunity:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with complex needs in a structured and nurturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of pupils and helping them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher or tutor to deliver high-quality teaching and learning for all pupils
- Assist in the implementation of relevant education policies and procedures
- Provide tailored support to pupils on an individual or small-group basis to help them access the curriculum as independently as possible
- Promote pupils’ physical, educational and moral development in line with organisational values
- Help organise and maintain the classroom environment to create a stimulating and supportive learning space
- Ensure equipment and resources are used safely and efficiently, reporting any maintenance issues as required
- Support the teacher or tutor in contributing to, updating and implementing pupil documentation
- Work effectively with colleagues to support pupils with autistic spectrum disorder and other additional needs
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with pupils with complex needs or autism
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and support teachers in delivering lessons
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
Preferred
- Experience in an educational setting, ideally within special needs
- Knowledge of Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Support Profiles
- Experience with inclusive teaching strategies and classroom management
