The Opportunity:

As an SEN Humanities Teacher, you will shape and deliver an engaging and progressive curriculum that inspires academic curiosity and personal growth in every pupil. You will play a key role in raising standards within the Humanities department and contributing to the development of new qualification pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging, and inclusive Humanities lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Support the development and implementation of new qualification pathways and curriculum enhancements.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support to ensure academic success and personal development.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and colleagues to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Create a nurturing and holistic learning environment that reflects the school’s values and ethos.
  • Deliver enrichment activities and contribute to the overall pastoral care of students.
  • Promote and model the Professional Standards for Teachers at all times.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the planning and review of the Humanities curriculum.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special education, preferably in Humanities.
  • Strong knowledge of Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 qualifications and pathways.
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons to students with complex needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in working within a team and contributing to departmental development.

Preferred

  • Experience with autism-specific teaching strategies.
  • Experience in developing and delivering enrichment activities.
  • Experience with curriculum design and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning.
