The Opportunity:

The Assistant Head Co-Curricular plays a vital role in shaping the character and culture of the school, ensuring that co-curricular activities are central to student development. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader who can inspire colleagues and pupils alike, while delivering inclusive and impactful enrichment programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the school’s co-curricular provision, including sport, music, drama, and clubs.
  • Develop and implement a clear, ambitious vision for enrichment activities that align with the school’s mission and values.
  • Ensure that all programmes and events are delivered with energy, inclusivity, and precision.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to shape whole-school strategy and drive a vibrant, aspirational culture.
  • Champion excellence and broaden opportunity, ensuring that every pupil finds their passion and thrives.
  • Support the development of pupil leadership and charitable initiatives.
  • Foster strong relationships with staff, students, and external partners to enhance the co-curricular experience.
  • Oversee the management of houses and other student-led activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, preferably within co-curricular or extra-curricular provision.
  • Strong strategic planning and project management skills.
  • Experience in developing and delivering enrichment programmes that support student development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and the holistic development of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school or educational institution.
  • Knowledge of child development and pastoral care.
  • Experience with pupil leadership and charitable initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of the role of co-curricular activities in education.
