The Opportunity:

As Assistant Head of Primary, you will provide academic leadership and support in Maths and English, while promoting excellence in teaching and learning across the school. This is an opportunity to lead, inspire, and shape the educational experience of students in a dynamic international environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development of the Maths and English curriculum to ensure it is relevant, consistent, and progressive.
  • Provide professional leadership to teachers and middle leaders, promoting best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Monitor student progress using assessment data to set targets and raise attainment.
  • Collaborate with subject leads to ensure strong links across the curriculum.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, serving as a role model for colleagues through coaching and professional dialogue.
  • Support the implementation of academic policies and ensure alignment with the school’s vision and goals.
  • Engage with parents and the wider community to build strong relationships and promote the school’s values.
  • Lead professional development initiatives and support staff in their continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A university degree and recognized teaching qualification.
  • Teaching experience, with a strong subject expertise in Maths and English.
  • Secure understanding of the UK National Curriculum and EYFS transition.
  • Ability to use assessment data strategically to monitor progress and raise attainment.
  • Experience in curriculum planning and implementation across short, medium, and long-term goals.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.
  • Ability to meet visa-related restrictions for China, including holding a Qualified Bachelor of Education or appropriate Degree with PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status, and a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within education.
  • Confidence in communicating with diverse audiences, including parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and a commitment to continuous professional development.
