The Opportunity:

As a Secondary English Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting EAL students and enhancing the overall teaching and learning experience. You will contribute to curriculum development, provide targeted support, and help shape professional development for staff. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students on entry and recommend appropriate English course placements.
  • Provide in-class and/or withdrawal support for referred EAL students.
  • Support staff with curriculum development and in-class teaching strategies.
  • Assist with the modification of assessments to meet the needs of EAL students.
  • Provide examination assistance and support for referred EAL students when required.
  • Develop and deliver EAL-focused professional development programmes for the whole staff.
  • Assist with the creation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Administer informal language assessments to identify and address language challenges.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Language teaching background in English as an Additional Language (EAL) essential
  • B.Ed., or bachelor's degree plus a teaching certificate (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent country/state teaching licensure)
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a school setting
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred

  • Experience or training in EAL, ESL, US-based APs, A-level, IGCSE, and IB TOK
  • Experience in teaching humanities subjects
  • Experience teaching at the Lower Secondary level
  • Experience with A-level or IBDP, IGCSE curricula
