The Opportunity:

The Assistant Head of Primary: Student Life will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure students thrive socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. This role supports a positive school culture and plays a key part in student wellbeing, pastoral care, and parent engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee school-wide student wellbeing and positive behavior systems.
• Coordinate student support services, including Counselling, Inclusion/Learning Support, and EAL.
• Monitor attendance and punctuality and implement targeted interventions.
• Line manage Grade Level Leaders for pastoral care and Learning Assistants.
• Lead student transitions within Primary and between divisions.
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for Primary.
• Promote restorative and preventative approaches to student support.
• Lead assemblies, trips, student leadership, and key community events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Bachelor’s degree with a recognized teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years’ leadership experience in a Primary or elementary setting.
• Proven experience leading teaching and learning, curriculum development, and assessment.
• Experience coaching teachers and leading professional learning.

Preferred

• Experience in an American or American-international curriculum.
• Strong understanding of effective Primary pedagogy and curriculum design.
• Experience using student performance data (e.g., MAP) to drive improvement.
