Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Year in managing and developing the pastoral care system for students.
  • Provide high-quality mental wellbeing, SMEH, SEND, or counselling support to students.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Deliver engaging and impactful assemblies and staff briefings.
  • Monitor and support student behaviour, attendance, and overall wellbeing.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure the pastoral needs of students are met.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and initiatives.
  • Assist in the organisation of events and activities that promote student engagement and leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade 9-4/A*-C.
  • Experience of working with young people in an education setting.
  • Experience of providing Mental Wellbeing, SMEH, SEND or counselling support to students or young people.
  • The ability to maintain positive relationships with students and other adults.
  • The ability to speak in front of large groups of students and small groups of staff.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or management role within a school setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience of working within a multi-academy trust or similar organisation.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience of using school management systems and software.
