The Opportunity:

We are seeking an inspiring Assistant Headteacher to lead and manage Key Stage 3, with a focus on pastoral systems, safeguarding, curriculum development, and pedagogical research. This is a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement and shaping the future of education at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Key Stage 3, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Oversee pastoral teams, systems, and processes to support student well-being.
  • Implement and develop safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Drive pedagogical research, development, and implementation across the school.
  • Support curriculum development aligned with the school’s vision and mission.
  • Foster strong relationships with colleagues, pupils, and parents/carers.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to achieve school improvement goals.
  • Ensure the school maintains its high academic standards and inclusive ethos.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant leadership experience within a secondary school.
  • Proven record of driving improvement and achieving excellent examination results.
  • Strong ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, pupils, and parents.
  • In-depth knowledge of current educational issues, particularly in relation to inclusion.
  • Commitment to improving the life chances of young people.
  • High expectations and aspirations for both pupils and colleagues.

Preferred

  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of pastoral care and safeguarding best practices.
  • Familiarity with the work of the Believe Learning Institute or similar professional development centres.
  • Experience in leading Key Stage 3 or similar academic areas.
