The Opportunity:
As Head of Languages Department, you will lead the development and delivery of the Languages curriculum, ensuring outstanding outcomes for students at all key stages. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced teacher or middle leader to take on a key leadership role and shape the future of Languages education at the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and develop the Languages curriculum across all Key Stages.
- Ensure the continued success and progression of the department, particularly in expanding provision to KS5.
- Provide leadership and support to the Languages teaching team.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and outcomes, ensuring high standards of achievement.
- Collaborate with other departments and senior leaders to align departmental goals with school-wide objectives.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and initiatives.
- Support the professional growth and development of staff within the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven experience in teaching French and Spanish across all Key Stages.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a department with a strong track record of student achievement.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and student progress.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department through a period of expansion or development.
- Experience in teaching at Key Stage 5 (A-Level).
- Evidence of measurable impact on student outcomes at both subject and school level.
- Experience in professional development and staff training.
- Strong knowledge of current educational trends and best practices in Languages education.
