The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Principal to lead and shape the school’s attendance and behaviour strategies. This role is pivotal in driving improvements that support student wellbeing and academic success, with a focus on creating a positive and respectful school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop comprehensive strategies for improving student attendance and behaviour across the school.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to implement whole-school improvements and initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate attendance and behaviour data to inform targeted interventions and support.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to staff on effective behaviour management and attendance practices.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider community to promote a positive school environment.
- Conduct regular lesson observations and provide constructive feedback to staff to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Hold staff to account for the quality of their practice and ensure consistent application of school policies.
- Contribute to the strategic development and management of the school, supporting the achievement of key objectives.
- Promote inclusive education and a culture of belonging for all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in managing student attendance and behaviour.
- Extensive experience in a middle leadership or senior leadership role.
- Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and lead by example as an outstanding classroom practitioner.
- Experience in implementing change and driving whole-school improvement.
- Demonstrated success in improving attendance and reducing exclusion rates.
- Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
Preferred
- Experience with action research or professional development groups.
- Knowledge of working with external partners and organisations.
- Experience in leading or contributing to STEM initiatives.
- Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Experience in managing large-scale projects or initiatives.
