The Opportunity:

As Director of External Relations, you will lead the school’s strategy for admissions, marketing, and development, ensuring alignment with the institution’s vision and values. This is a senior leadership role with significant impact on the school’s reputation, growth, and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and shape the strategy for admissions, marketing, and development across the school’s family of institutions.
  • Work closely with the Head Master and Senior Management Team to ensure alignment with the Strategic Development Plan.
  • Deliver a cohesive and compelling brand message across all external communications and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee and support the development of fundraising initiatives and alumni relations.
  • Provide strategic leadership to a team of thirteen, including direct management of the Director of Admissions and Head of Marketing.
  • Ensure effective recruitment and retention strategies that support the school’s long-term vision.
  • Represent the school at major events and in external engagements, acting as a trusted ambassador.
  • Develop and present evidence-based business cases to secure investment and stakeholder support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Senior leadership experience in a comparable educational institution.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Degree-level education or higher.
  • Proven experience in admissions, marketing, or development at a strategic level.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in fundraising or alumni engagement.
  • Knowledge of brand development and institutional positioning.
  • Experience in crisis communications and public relations.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing and social media strategy.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £80,000–£90,000 per annum.
