The Opportunity:
As Director of External Relations, you will lead the school’s strategy for admissions, marketing, and development, ensuring alignment with the institution’s vision and values. This is a senior leadership role with significant impact on the school’s reputation, growth, and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and shape the strategy for admissions, marketing, and development across the school’s family of institutions.
- Work closely with the Head Master and Senior Management Team to ensure alignment with the Strategic Development Plan.
- Deliver a cohesive and compelling brand message across all external communications and stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee and support the development of fundraising initiatives and alumni relations.
- Provide strategic leadership to a team of thirteen, including direct management of the Director of Admissions and Head of Marketing.
- Ensure effective recruitment and retention strategies that support the school’s long-term vision.
- Represent the school at major events and in external engagements, acting as a trusted ambassador.
- Develop and present evidence-based business cases to secure investment and stakeholder support.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Senior leadership experience in a comparable educational institution.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Degree-level education or higher.
- Proven experience in admissions, marketing, or development at a strategic level.
- Ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience in fundraising or alumni engagement.
- Knowledge of brand development and institutional positioning.
- Experience in crisis communications and public relations.
- Familiarity with digital marketing and social media strategy.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £80,000–£90,000 per annum.
- Generous benefits package including private health cover and a defined contribution pension scheme.
- 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
