The Opportunity:
As an IT and Cyber Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the school’s IT infrastructure and cyber security posture. This role is vital in protecting our community from digital threats and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. You will play a key role in safeguarding our students, staff, and information systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain robust cyber security measures to protect the school's IT systems and data.
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate threats.
- Respond to security incidents and data breaches with swift and effective action.
- Deliver cyber security awareness training to staff and students.
- Support the school in meeting its obligations under GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Manage data retention policies and assist with Subject Access Requests.
- Investigate and report on data leaks or potential security incidents.
- Work closely with the IT Manager to develop and maintain the school’s IT infrastructure.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in IT and cyber security, with a strong understanding of data protection regulations.
- Relevant qualifications in IT security, information technology, or a related field.
- Experience in managing IT systems and implementing security controls.
- Ability to conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident response procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to deliver training and support staff and students.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Familiarity with cloud-based IT systems and security tools.
- Experience in developing and delivering cyber security training programs.
- Commitment to promoting a school ethos aligned with Christian values.
