The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Teacher, you will support students with special educational needs, helping them achieve academic success and develop essential life skills. This is a vital role in a supportive and forward-thinking Inclusion department that values innovation and student well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs in both academic and social development.
  • Assist in the removal of barriers to learning and the enhancement of student achievement.
  • Work closely with students to develop strategies for independent learning and motivation.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive support system.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a broad and inclusive curriculum tailored to individual needs.
  • Maintain a calm, professional, and positive environment in challenging situations.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to implement effective learning strategies.
  • Participate in staff development and training programs to enhance teaching practice.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant teaching qualification or equivalent experience in supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Experience working with students who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Commitment to student welfare and academic success.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting with a strong focus on inclusion.
  • Familiarity with SEN support frameworks and strategies.
  • Experience in developing and implementing individual learning plans.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in approach and working style.
  • A passion for supporting young people and making a positive impact on their lives.
