Cover Supervisor needed to support teaching during teacher absences.

The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will ensure the smooth continuation of learning during teacher absences. This role is essential in maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment, supporting students and staff across all subjects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences.
  • Implement pre-set work programmes under the guidance of teaching staff.
  • Manage student behaviour in line with the school's Consequences Policy.
  • Prepare learning environments and materials for lessons.
  • Assist with collecting completed assignments and responding to student questions.
  • Record and report lesson attendance accurately.
  • Support examination logistics by assisting in exam invigilation.
  • Report on pupil behaviour or issues using appropriate referral procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow school policies.
  • Proficiency in standard ICT packages including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working in a school environment.
  • Ability to relate to students in a friendly and supportive manner.
  • Awareness of child safeguarding issues and the ability to identify potential concerns.

Preferred

  • Experience in classroom management and teaching support.
  • Willingness to obtain and enhance qualifications through training and development opportunities.
