The Opportunity:
As an Assistant Teacher, you will support students in the Access to Learning Centre, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve academic and social success. This role is ideal for someone passionate about transforming the lives of young people with challenging behaviour and academic needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of a tailored curriculum for students with challenging behaviour and special educational needs.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance motivation, independence, and academic achievement.
- Deliver 1-1 and small group interventions in various academic subjects, including reading and phonics.
- Work closely with students, parents, and colleagues to support academic and pastoral development.
- Create a positive and dynamic learning environment that fosters student engagement and growth.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure consistent support for students.
- Remain calm under pressure and demonstrate resilience in challenging situations.
- Contribute to the school’s mission of providing inclusive and inspiring education for all learners.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Passion for supporting students with academic difficulties and challenging behaviour.
- Experience in working with students in a classroom setting.
- Ability to build positive relationships using a nurturing and trauma-informed approach.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to raising achievement and promoting student development.
- Flexibility in approach and strong problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Experience working with students with EAL (English as an Additional Language).
- Experience delivering small group and 1-1 academic interventions.
- Familiarity with Google documents and web-based software packages.
