The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Coordinator, you will play a vital role in promoting consistent and positive attendance across the school. You will work closely with pupils, families, and external agencies to identify and address barriers to attendance, with a particular focus on supporting disadvantaged students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and families to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence.
  • Work in partnership with Pastoral Year Leaders and the Pastoral and Inclusion teams to monitor and review individual attendance records.
  • Track progress against school and year group attendance targets.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of effective attendance intervention strategies.
  • Identify and address barriers to attendance through targeted support and collaboration with external agencies.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on attendance trends and interventions.
  • Support the implementation of initiatives aimed at increasing attendance and engagement among all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Experience in managing and monitoring attendance records and data.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative in problem-solving.
  • Commitment to improving attendance and supporting student welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with disadvantaged students or those with additional needs.
  • Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures within the education sector.
  • Experience in developing and implementing attendance improvement strategies.
  • Familiarity with pastoral care and support systems within a school environment.
