The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students and families to overcome barriers to attendance. This is a key position within a high-performing team, focused on ensuring students can fully benefit from the opportunities available at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students and families to improve attendance through targeted interventions.
  • Work closely with specific year groups to identify and address attendance challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of attendance and related communications.
  • Collaborate with pastoral teams and other school staff to ensure a coordinated approach.
  • Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Show initiative in developing strategies to improve attendance outcomes.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on attendance trends.
  • Engage with parents and carers to build positive relationships and encourage attendance.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience working in a school or education setting, ideally with a focus on student support.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a role involving student engagement or pastoral support.
  • Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures in education.
  • Experience with data management systems or attendance tracking software.
  • Ability to work flexibly and manage a varied workload.
