The Opportunity:
As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic achievement and overall wellbeing. This is a vital position that ensures students feel supported and empowered to succeed. The role involves working closely with students, parents, and external agencies to create a positive and safe learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in their academic and personal development
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to address student needs
- Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing
- Provide guidance and support to students in a variety of situations
- Assist in the delivery of pastoral care and support services
- Work closely with teaching staff to ensure a consistent approach to student support
- Organise and participate in student engagement activities
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to student support
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience working with young people in a secondary school setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Experience working with parents and external agencies
Preferred
- Experience in student support or pastoral care
- Knowledge of education policies and procedures
- Experience with behaviour management strategies
- Familiarity with PSHE and wellbeing programmes
- Experience with supporting students with additional needs
