The Opportunity:

As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic achievement and overall wellbeing. This is a vital position that ensures students feel supported and empowered to succeed. The role involves working closely with students, parents, and external agencies to create a positive and safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in their academic and personal development
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to address student needs
  • Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing
  • Provide guidance and support to students in a variety of situations
  • Assist in the delivery of pastoral care and support services
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure a consistent approach to student support
  • Organise and participate in student engagement activities
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to student support

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with young people in a secondary school setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Experience working with parents and external agencies

Preferred

  • Experience in student support or pastoral care
  • Knowledge of education policies and procedures
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies
  • Familiarity with PSHE and wellbeing programmes
  • Experience with supporting students with additional needs
