The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in improving student attendance by building positive relationships with students and families. This role is essential in ensuring students remain in the classroom and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and monitor student attendance through regular communication with students, parents, and staff.
  • Analyze attendance data to identify trends and develop targeted strategies for improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with the attendance team and other professionals to provide tailored support for students.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and families to overcome barriers to attendance.
  • Liaise with external agencies where appropriate to ensure student needs are met.
  • Attend meetings with staff, parents, and students to discuss attendance-related concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance and interventions.
  • Promote the school’s attendance policies and procedures to students and parents.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in an educational setting with a focus on attendance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Experience of analyzing attendance data and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in an educational context.

Preferred

  • Experience of working in a multi-agency setting.
  • Experience supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Experience with educational software or attendance management systems.
