The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Design and Technology Teacher with a specialism in Textiles to join our successful department. The role involves teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, with the opportunity to develop expertise in textiles. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner to contribute to a dynamic and supportive teaching team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Design and Technology lessons across all key stages.
  • Develop and maintain a successful textiles curriculum with a focus on student engagement and achievement.
  • Support students in achieving excellent exam results through innovative teaching methods and effective assessment strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the overall quality of teaching and learning.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of cross-curricular projects and enrichment activities.
  • Provide pastoral support and mentorship to students where appropriate.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to departmental CPD initiatives.
  • Maintain and manage specialist facilities including textile rooms and rapid prototyping equipment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Design and Technology.
  • Ability to teach across Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Textiles or willingness to develop expertise in this area.
  • Experience in delivering successful lessons and achieving high student outcomes.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in textiles specialism.
  • Experience with ECT induction and mentoring.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and CNC equipment.
  • Passion for working with young people and contributing to a supportive school community.
