The Opportunity:

As a Bagpipe Teacher, you will lead the school’s first Youth Bagpipe Team in China and contribute to a unique and innovative performing arts programme. You will inspire students to develop their musical talents and support the school’s mission of creating resilient, creative global citizens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate thorough bagpipe knowledge and flexibility in teaching across different age groups and aspects of the Performing Arts curriculum.
  • Plan, prepare, teach, and assess lessons to meet the needs of students and the school’s expectations.
  • Promote high expectations for students by designing learning activities aligned with the school’s Secondary curriculum.
  • Foster a respectful classroom environment through questioning, discussion, and active engagement.
  • Contribute to the school’s growth and development, collaborating with other performing arts teachers and leveraging partnerships with institutions like Juilliard.
  • Support the development of a high-performing department by working closely with Primary and Secondary Performing Arts teachers.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Teaching experience in bagpipe, with the ability to contribute to other subject areas if possible.
  • Understanding of effective teaching and learning theory, including differentiation and classroom organization.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong team-player attitude and flexibility to adapt to the school’s needs.

Preferred

  • Experience with international education or cross-cultural collaboration.
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate or similar curricula.
  • Experience in developing and leading extracurricular music programmes.
