The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a dynamic boarding community, ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for students.
  • Promote the school’s values of belonging, scholarship, and character through daily interactions and activities.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to support the academic, social, and personal development of students.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the boarding house, including pastoral care, welfare, and wellbeing.
  • Organise and participate in events, activities, and programmes that enhance student engagement and community spirit.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to students, fostering a sense of responsibility and independence.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, staff, and senior leadership to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to student care.
  • Ensure the maintenance and proper use of boarding facilities, promoting a clean, safe, and welcoming living environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a pastoral or boarding environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ability to manage a team and deliver high standards of care and support.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting, ideally with a focus on pastoral care.

Preferred

  • Experience in a teaching or non-teaching role within a boarding school.
  • Familiarity with modern boarding practices and facilities.
  • Knowledge of child development and wellbeing.
  • Experience with curriculum support or student mentorship.
