Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Chemistry curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards.
  • Support and mentor other chemistry teachers within the department.
  • Monitor and assess student progress to ensure consistent achievement and improvement.
  • Collaborate with the science leadership team to shape the overall science strategy.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that engage students and promote a love of chemistry.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject and integrate innovative teaching methods.
  • Work closely with the wider school community to promote science and engineering.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of extra-curricular science events and activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Chemistry at Key Stage 4 and 5.
  • Strong classroom management and teaching skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a subject or department.
  • Experience with AQA GCSE and A Level Chemistry syllabi.
  • Involvement in extra-curricular science activities or STEM events.
  • Familiarity with T Levels or BTEC qualifications.
  • Experience in a UTC or technical college setting.
