The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Chemistry department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that reflects the school’s values and educational standards.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support to improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular links and enrichment opportunities.
  • Support staff through professional development and mentorship.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning culture within the department.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of laboratory equipment and resources.
  • Represent the department at school-level meetings and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS.
  • Proven experience in leading a department or subject team.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Chemistry.
  • Excellent classroom management and teaching skills.
  • Commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Catholic school or academy setting.
  • Leadership experience in a multi-academy trust.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Experience in promoting STEM education and extracurricular science activities.
