The Opportunity:

As a Subject Leader Music, you will play a key role in shaping the music curriculum and leading a dynamic department. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to inspire students and deliver high-quality teaching and extracurricular provision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the music department, ensuring a high standard of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that fosters a love of music across all year groups.
  • Deliver engaging and creative lessons that reflect the school’s commitment to academic excellence.
  • Support and mentor other music staff to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Organize and lead a wide range of musical performances and extracurricular activities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to support continued development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate music into cross-curricular projects.
  • Represent the school at events and conferences, promoting the music department and its achievements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in music.
  • Proven experience in leading a department or team in a school setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrable ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and delivering music curricula at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Experience in leading extracurricular music activities such as choirs, ensembles, or instrumental programs.
  • Experience with music technology and digital resources.
  • Experience in performing or composing music.
