Reading School Teacher Payscale RSTP 1 to 9 (M1 to UPS3) or Reading School Unqualified Payscale UNQ 1 to 6 depending on experience and qualifications (RSTP £32,916 to £51,048 pa; UNQ £22,601 to £35,259 pa).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Chemistry lessons that inspire curiosity and a love of the subject.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and resources.
  • Support students in achieving outstanding academic results, including A-level success.
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities, including science competitions and medical application support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and enhance the reputation of the Chemistry department.
  • Provide pastoral care and mentorship to students as needed.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate new ideas into teaching.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through community engagement and leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong Chemistry degree or related qualification.
  • Experience in teaching Chemistry at A-level and GCSE.
  • A passion for the subject and a commitment to inspiring students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and take on leadership responsibilities.

Preferred

  • Experience with supra-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methods and technology.
  • Experience in supporting students with medical applications or university placements.
  • Background in promoting social mobility and character development.
