The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a passionate and qualified Chemistry Teacher (Middle Years) to join its secondary science team. This role will focus on delivering engaging IGCSE Chemistry lessons and contributing to science enrichment activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in inspiring the next generation of scientists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging chemistry lessons across KS3 and KS4 (IGCSE)
- Set challenging learning objectives and ensure high levels of student interest and achievement
- Use a variety of teaching methods to support different learning styles
- Assess, record and monitor student progress systematically
- Provide meaningful feedback and set clear targets for improvement
- Plan and lead chemistry-related enrichment activities (e.g. Science Week, STEM clubs)
- Support students in internal and external science competitions
- Act as a Form Tutor if required
- Support the wellbeing and academic progress of assigned students
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemistry Education, or a closely related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or international equivalent)
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience teaching Chemistry at KS3 and KS4 level, preferably in an international or bilingual school setting
- Experience teaching IGCSE Chemistry is essential
- Demonstrated experience leading practical laboratory work
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Preferred
- Experience in a co-educational or boarding school environment
- Familiarity with international curricula
- Experience with science enrichment and extracurricular activities
