The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences by managing classes and implementing work programmes. This role is essential in maintaining a productive and engaging learning environment across multiple subjects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences and implement pre-set work programmes.
  • Manage student behaviour in line with the school's Consequences Policy to maintain a constructive learning environment.
  • Prepare the classroom environment and materials in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Assist students with questions about set work and collect completed assignments.
  • Record and report lesson attendance accurately.
  • Support examination logistics by assisting with invigilation and reporting pupil behaviour or issues during referral procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in using standard ICT packages.
  • Experience in a school environment is desirable.
  • Ability to relate to students in a friendly and supportive manner.
  • Awareness of child safeguarding issues and willingness to report concerns.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or classroom management.
  • Willingness to obtain and enhance qualifications through training and development opportunities.
  • Familiarity with exam procedures and invigilation practices.
