The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of lessons and supporting learning when teachers are absent. This is a key position within a school that values collaboration, respect, and student development. Your passion for working with young people will be central to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in lessons when teachers are absent, maintaining a positive and focused learning environment.
  • Deliver engaging and structured learning activities aligned with the teacher’s lesson plan.
  • Monitor student behavior and ensure a safe, respectful classroom atmosphere.
  • Communicate effectively with both students and teaching staff to ensure continuity of learning.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to cover duties and lesson planning.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to support the school’s vision and values.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos of the school by modeling respect, kindness, and determination.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with young people in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain discipline.
  • Commitment to the school’s values of kindness, respect, and determination.
  • Flexibility to work term time only, including inset days.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or covering lessons for absent colleagues.
  • Understanding of curriculum requirements and teaching methodologies.
  • Experience with supporting student development and wellbeing.
  • A sense of humour and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on NJC Grade 4 Points 5-6.
  • Term time only employment with inset days included.
  • Flexible working hours from 8.30am to 3.00pm, including lunch duties.
