The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join our Senior School on a part-time basis. This role is essential in ensuring the continuity of teaching and learning, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student engagement and behaviour across a range of subjects and year groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to students during lesson time in the absence of a teacher.
  • Communicate clearly with students about the work set by the class teacher and ensure they understand expectations.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment.
  • Collect and return completed work to the class teacher as required.
  • Report on student behaviour and any issues arising during lessons.
  • Support teaching staff with supervision duties in the Library and/or Sixth Form Centre.
  • Assist with additional cover needs in the Junior School when required.
  • Contribute to internal exam invigilation and accompany staff and students on educational visits.
  • Transport pupils to PE lessons at the school's nearby sports facilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Maths.
  • IT literacy with experience using Microsoft 365.
  • Confidence and presence in the classroom, with the ability to supervise pupils effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to supervise lessons across a wide range of subjects and year groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage administrative tasks such as registers and work collection.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or education support roles.
  • Willingness to support learning in non-specialist subjects.
  • Experience with safeguarding and child welfare procedures.
  • Familiarity with independent school environments.
