The Opportunity:

As a Daytime Tutor, you’ll provide targeted academic support to students with a range of learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). This role offers the freedom to teach in a way that aligns with your style and the needs of your students, making a real difference in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering 1:1 or small group tutoring sessions in schools, local centres, or students’ homes
  • Planning and preparing sessions tailored to academic, therapeutic, and personal development goals
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students and their families
  • Collaborating with students to set and achieve realistic learning targets
  • Regularly assessing and reporting on student progress
  • Ensuring all safeguarding policies and procedures are strictly followed
  • Working with local authorities and schools to meet agreed educational outcomes

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • QTS/QTLS, a Bachelor’s degree, or experienced HLTA
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience with students who have learning or behavioural difficulties
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
  • Ability to work with students with a range of needs, including SEND, SEMH, and EBSA

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs
  • Familiarity with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP)
  • Experience in academic, therapeutic, or alternative provision settings
  • Proficiency in delivering lessons in Maths, English, and Science
