Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Curriculum Leader in driving the vision and strategy for the English department
  • Develop and implement an engaging, challenging curriculum that meets the needs of all learners
  • Provide professional development and support to staff to ensure consistently strong teaching and learning
  • Monitor student progress and use performance data to raise achievement and improve outcomes
  • Manage resources and maintain high standards across the department
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and partner schools
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and long-term development of the English curriculum
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the department

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching English at secondary level
  • Experience in a leadership or middle leadership role within a school setting
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development and pedagogy
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to raising standards and maintaining high expectations in teaching and learning

Preferred

  • Experience in leading curriculum development or strategic planning
  • Experience with inclusion and differentiated teaching strategies
  • Familiarity with the latest developments in English education and assessment
  • Experience in working with external partners or other schools
