The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic Deputy Head of Design and Technology to lead and inspire a high-achieving department. This role offers the chance to shape a modern, challenging curriculum and support students in achieving outstanding results across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Design and Technology to students aged 11–18, ensuring high-quality delivery and student progress
  • Collaborate with the Head of Design and Technology to develop a stimulating, relevant, and personalised curriculum
  • Promote a high profile for Design and Technology across the school through engaging learning opportunities
  • Support and lead CPD initiatives, sharing best practice and resources with colleagues
  • Ensure effective use of resources and facilities, including modern ICT integration and project-based learning
  • Monitor and improve student attainment through rigorous data analysis and targeted interventions
  • Uphold high standards of behaviour and safety within the department and across the school
  • Mentor and coach colleagues to support professional development and team performance

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience teaching across all Design and Technology disciplines
  • Strong leadership experience with a track record of delivering outstanding student outcomes
  • Commitment to innovative and student-centred teaching methods
  • Ability to design and implement a challenging and relevant curriculum
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum leadership or senior teaching roles
  • Familiarity with project-based learning and ICT integration in the classroom
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching colleagues
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and colleagues
