The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of Mathematics to lead a thriving department and drive academic excellence. This is a key leadership role with the opportunity to shape the future of mathematics education across all key stages and contribute to the school’s continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a successful Mathematics Faculty, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and outcomes in Mathematics.
  • Support and mentor staff within the department, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
  • Oversee the curriculum across all key stages, including A Level and Further Mathematics.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-subject initiatives and student engagement.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment with school-wide goals and priorities.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, identifying areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Represent the department in meetings, conferences, and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience within a secondary Mathematics department.
  • Strong academic background and a track record of success in Mathematics education.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of Mathematics staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve student outcomes and achieve high results.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a large and successful Mathematics department.
  • Familiarity with the Early Career Framework and Initial Teacher Training.
  • Experience with A Level and Further Mathematics qualifications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
