The Opportunity:

As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in shaping the future of a school by leading initiatives that improve student outcomes and support the pastoral needs of all learners. This is a transformative role that offers the chance to influence a school improvement journey and contribute to a culture of excellence and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive pastoral strategy to support student well-being and successful life outcomes.
  • Oversee safeguarding practices and ensure compliance with child protection policies and procedures.
  • Champion trauma-informed approaches to behaviour management and support colleagues in implementing effective strategies.
  • Collaborate with curriculum leaders to ensure full student engagement and academic progress.
  • Manage and develop the Pastoral Team, supporting staff growth and improving student outcomes.
  • Utilise data and research to drive improvements in attendance, behaviour, and academic performance.
  • Represent the school in external partnerships and contribute to the development of school improvement plans.
  • Maintain a teaching timetable of up to 15 hours per fortnight and model best practice in the classroom.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in senior or middle leadership within a school setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of delivering transformational change.
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Knowledge of Catholic education and the ability to uphold its values.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use data effectively to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and supporting students with special educational needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading school improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in headship or aspiring to headship.
  • Experience with special educational needs and disadvantage.
  • Experience in curriculum leadership or development.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar structure.
