The Opportunity:

As a Designated Safeguarding Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students. You will work closely with staff, students, parents, and external agencies to implement effective safeguarding practices. This role is essential in maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a visible presence in staffrooms to provide early advice on safeguarding concerns
  • Meet with students to assess risks, offer support, and develop appropriate safeguarding plans
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of all safeguarding-related activities
  • Collaborate with the team to create college-wide safeguarding resources and staff training
  • Attend multi-agency meetings (e.g., EH, CIN, and CP) to ensure a coordinated approach to student safety
  • Liaise with external agencies, including social services and education professionals
  • Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed in line with statutory guidance
  • Provide professional advice and support to colleagues on safeguarding matters

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a safeguarding role within an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of child protection policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and report effectively
  • Resilience and the ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare

Preferred

  • Experience with multi-agency working and collaboration
  • Experience in developing training materials or resources
  • Experience in managing safeguarding cases from initial concern to resolution
  • Experience with statutory safeguarding frameworks and guidelines
