The Opportunity:

As the Head of Sociology, you will lead a successful team of subject specialists, delivering high-quality education to over 600 A level students. This role offers the chance to shape the curriculum, mentor colleagues, and make a meaningful impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of Sociology teachers to ensure high-quality teaching and learning
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the curriculum and student achievement
  • Deliver subject-specific sessions and provide expert guidance to learners
  • Support and develop teaching staff through training, mentoring, and professional development
  • Act as a personal tutor, providing pastoral care and guidance to students
  • Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement across the faculty
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive working environment
  • Ensure the implementation of best practices and innovative teaching methods

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Sociology at A level
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of teachers
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deliver high-quality teaching and learning

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support
  • Knowledge of educational research and assessment strategies
  • Experience in driving performance and achievement in large cohorts
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and welfare policies
