The Opportunity:
As the Director of Care Support and Guidance, you will lead and develop the school’s approach to student wellbeing, pastoral care, and guidance. This role offers the opportunity to shape a comprehensive care framework that supports students in achieving academic and personal success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of pastoral systems, student support, and guidance provision across the school.
- Collaborate with academic and operational leaders to ensure a joined-up, high-impact care framework.
- Develop and implement policies and practices that promote student wellbeing, inclusion, and safeguarding.
- Maintain a visible presence in school life and contribute to the co-curricular programme.
- Support the professional development of staff involved in pastoral care and guidance.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a leadership role within education, with a focus on student wellbeing and pastoral care.
- Strong educational expertise and a clear commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
- Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to student support and guidance.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with academic and operational leaders.
Preferred
- Experience in a school setting with a strong co-curricular programme.
- Knowledge of innovative approaches to student wellbeing and pastoral care.
- Experience with leadership development and career planning initiatives for students.
- Familiarity with Harkness teaching methods or other student-centred learning approaches.
- Experience in a multicultural or international educational environment.
