The Opportunity:

As the Director of Care Support and Guidance, you will lead and develop the school’s approach to student wellbeing, pastoral care, and guidance. This role offers the opportunity to shape a comprehensive care framework that supports students in achieving academic and personal success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of pastoral systems, student support, and guidance provision across the school.
  • Collaborate with academic and operational leaders to ensure a joined-up, high-impact care framework.
  • Develop and implement policies and practices that promote student wellbeing, inclusion, and safeguarding.
  • Maintain a visible presence in school life and contribute to the co-curricular programme.
  • Support the professional development of staff involved in pastoral care and guidance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within education, with a focus on student wellbeing and pastoral care.
  • Strong educational expertise and a clear commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to student support and guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with academic and operational leaders.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting with a strong co-curricular programme.
  • Knowledge of innovative approaches to student wellbeing and pastoral care.
  • Experience with leadership development and career planning initiatives for students.
  • Familiarity with Harkness teaching methods or other student-centred learning approaches.
  • Experience in a multicultural or international educational environment.
