The Opportunity:

As Head of Key Stage 2 Drama, you will lead a thriving drama programme, inspiring students and contributing to a dynamic educational environment. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum, lead productions, and support student development through the performing arts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the KS2 Drama curriculum to ensure outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Deliver inspiring drama lessons to Years 3–6 that motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Ensure strong curriculum links between drama, English, and wider performing arts.
  • Develop schemes of work, resources, and assessment approaches for KS2 Drama.
  • Create an engaging classroom and performance environment that supports creativity and confidence.
  • Take responsibility for pupil progress in KS2 Drama and maintain accurate assessment records.
  • Lead, plan, and direct the annual Year 6 production and support whole-school performing arts events.
  • Work closely with performing arts and primary colleagues on curriculum planning and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong classroom practice and curriculum leadership experience in drama education.
  • Passion for performing arts and a commitment to student development.
  • Ability to plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that meet the full range of student abilities.
  • Experience in using assessment systems and providing feedback to parents.
  • Leadership skills to manage and inspire a team of students and colleagues.

Preferred

  • Experience in additional performing arts disciplines such as dance and/or music.
  • Experience with co-curricular programme development and event planning.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and Harkness-style learning.
