The Opportunity:

As an Early Years Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young learners in a child-centered, inquiry-driven classroom. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on a child's development, helping them build confidence, independence, and social skills in a warm and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support young learners in fully participating in inquiry-based classroom learning and exploration.
  • Guide and scaffold learning tasks under the direction of class teachers.
  • Encourage independence by gradually adjusting levels of support to help children build confidence and self-direction.
  • Assist with transitions, materials, and organization to ensure smooth movement between learning spaces.
  • Support emotional regulation and social participation using agreed strategies.
  • Facilitate communication by helping children express needs, ideas, and feelings.
  • Support participation in daily routines and self-care activities while guiding the child toward independence.
  • Promote engagement in hands-on exploration and collaborative experiences.
  • Supervise and support the child during unstructured or transitional times.
  • Share relevant observations with educators to support ongoing reflection and planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience supporting children or young people in educational settings.
  • Understanding of inclusive teaching and differentiation.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection expectations.
  • Excellent English (spoken and written).
  • Flexibility to work 2 different shifts between 8:00 - 17:00.
  • Ability to work responsibly and collaboratively with a large team.

Preferred

  • Relevant qualification in Education Support, Teaching Assistance, or Child Development.
  • Passion and talents in areas such as music, creative arts, gardening, or outdoor learning.
  • Experience supporting Early Years student’s development and growth.
  • Familiarity with Zones of Regulation, Restorative Practice, or SEL frameworks.
  • Experience in international or multilingual school settings.
  • Additional languages: German, Swedish, or Spanish.
