Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the English department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and attainment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery and assessment of the English curriculum.
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers and students within the department.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development and innovation.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to ensure alignment with school vision and values.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the department to identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and a passion for teaching.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Commitment to the school’s Christian ethos and values.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team within a school.
  • Experience with Ofsted inspections or similar standards.
  • Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in leading professional development initiatives.
