Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English Language and Literature to A Level and/or IBDP students with high academic expectations.
  • Deliver effective English lessons to middle and senior school pupils as required.
  • Track, assess and support student progress to ensure excellent academic outcomes.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with English as an additional language.
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the English department.
  • Participate in whole-school initiatives, enrichment programmes and extracurricular activities.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Integrate educational technologies—including AI, VR and digital tools—to enhance learning experiences.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Successful experience teaching English to A Level and/or IBDP with evidence of strong student progress.
  • Fluency in English with highly articulate written, spoken and academic communication skills.
  • Confidence teaching a range of age groups across the middle and senior school.
  • A collaborative, positive and proactive attitude, contributing fully to the life of the department and school.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to support learners whose first language may not be English.
  • Strong commitment to pastoral care and to nurturing the whole child.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • A reflective approach with enthusiasm for ongoing professional learning.
  • Willingness to embrace educational technology and innovative teaching methods.
