The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping the academic and personal development of students aged 11–18. This position includes teaching IGCSE English and potentially Media Studies, with a focus on fostering creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the school’s schemes of work.
  • Contribute to the planning, evaluation, and improvement of departmental policies and curricula.
  • Uphold high standards of teaching, preparation, and student discipline.
  • Integrate technology effectively into the English curriculum.
  • Participate in whole-school events such as Book Week and Public Speaking Week.
  • Set clear expectations for student learning and provide constructive feedback.
  • Communicate regularly with parents through conferences and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Team to meet individual student needs.
  • Support students through pastoral roles, including Form Tutor responsibilities.
  • Promote cross-curricular links and opportunities for applying English skills.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and stay updated with teaching strategies and examination requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience and passion for teaching English at KS3, IGCSE, and A Level (or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to student welfare and academic achievement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to take on pastoral responsibilities.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Media Studies up to IGCSE level (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with international curricula and assessment standards.
  • Experience with child protection policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to support student wellbeing and character development.
