Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that promote a love of English and develop students’ literacy skills.
  • Plan and assess schemes of work in line with the school’s curriculum and examination requirements.
  • Support students in achieving their full potential, including those with additional needs or learning challenges.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to departmental development.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including after-school clubs and enrichment programs.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect and engagement.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in English or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive and differentiated teaching practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching A-level English.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching strategies and technologies.
  • Experience in pastoral care or student support.
  • Evidence of successful student outcomes and progress.
