The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Art and Design Technology to lead two high-performing departments. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of creative education, inspire students, and contribute to a vibrant co-curricular programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Art and Design Technology departments.
  • Teach small classes across Year 3 to Year 8, including scholarship-level preparation.
  • Lead and inspire a team of 3 full-time and 6 part-time staff and assistants.
  • Contribute to the co-curricular programme and wider school life, including after-school and evening activities.
  • Maintain and enhance high-quality facilities, including dedicated art and design technology spaces.
  • Promote the departments’ strong record of success and student achievement.
  • Support charitable initiatives through creative student projects and outreach.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience teaching Art and/or Design Technology to scholarship (GCSE) level.
  • Strong leadership and management experience in an educational setting.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ability to teach across a range of year groups and levels.
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to the co-curricular programme and school community.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading and developing departments within a school environment.
  • Background in both primary and secondary education.
  • Experience with charitable or community-based projects.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
