Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that develop students’ geographical knowledge, critical thinking, and understanding of global issues.
- Plan and deliver schemes of work aligned with the UK National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 and examination board requirements for GCSE and A Level Geography.
- Prepare students effectively for external qualifications, including (I)GCSE and A Level Geography.
- Promote geographical enquiry through investigation, research, data interpretation, and fieldwork activities.
- Support the needs of all learners, including SEN, EAL, and G&T students, through effective differentiation and inclusive teaching practices.
- Contribute to the development of the humanities curriculum and the continued growth of Geography at Key Stage 4 and 5.
- Monitor and track student progress using assessment data to inform teaching and identify students who require additional challenge or support.
- Build positive relationships with students, encouraging respect, responsibility, and independence.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities, clubs, and competitions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a similar role.
- Strong subject knowledge in Geography and related humanities disciplines.
Preferred
- Experience with teaching Geography at Key Stage 4 and 5.
- Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
- IT literacy and familiarity with online technologies to support 21st-century teaching.
- Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with parents in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
