Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Geography to students across the full age and ability range.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote progression and achievement.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and discipline through effective classroom management.
  • Use a range of teaching methods, including ICT, to keep students engaged and motivated.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through regular feedback and targeted interventions.
  • Develop and update schemes of work that align with curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare and present reports to parents in line with statutory requirements.
  • Support students with special educational needs by implementing Individual Education Plans.
  • Evaluate and improve teaching practices through reflective practice and professional development.
  • Contribute to faculty meetings, progress evenings, and wider school activities.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of a form tutor and support student well-being.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of extra-curricular activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Geography.
  • Experience teaching Geography at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Commitment to student progress and assessment for learning.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching Geography at Key Stage 5.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices and support for students with special educational needs.
  • Experience in developing and delivering cross-curricular activities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with colleagues and parents.
